About Us

The Calgary Student Film Festival is a student-driven organization dedicated to furthering youth filmmaking in Calgary. Our goal is to allow young students to network with their peers, and encourage cross-Calgary competition in media arts. We hope to showcase youth talent and provide exposure for young Canadian filmmakers by inviting industry officials to view your work at our final screening.

Our major event is a cross-Calgary film competition, which is open to all high schools in Calgary. At the end of the year, the top 20 films submitted by highschool students will be screened at Cardel Theatre (180 Quarry Park Blvd. S.E.) on May 11th. Prizes will be awarded for outstanding films, and a trophy may be awarded to your school. We open for submissions on December 1st, 2013, and the submission deadline is April 15th, 2013 (See Submission Details)

This is the first year of this event, and we hope to recruit more organizational members to carry on the tradition in upcoming years. Please sign up here or email us with any questions you may have.

In the meantime, get out and film!
